| Message from the Mayor |
Building Moriya with the strength of our residents!
The quality of living and the infrastructure of Moriya have improved consistently over the past few years as a result of working together with our residents. By the preservation of traditional urban structures in combination with building up an effective transportation system, e.g. the opening of the Tsukuba Express, more and more people become attracted to Moriya as a place to call home.
The meaning of Moriya can be interpreted as a shout of joy about the rich nature that surrounds us : “What a beautiful forest!”. Nature enriches our community, and so it is essential to us that we respect and protect this beautiful environment. Another interpretation states that Moriya is “the Valley, which is easy to protect”; and so we also take it upon ourselves to ensure that our residents have a peaceful living environment. We believe that Moriya will also become home to many others if we continue to create a rich environment for all our residents.
The City of Moriya endeavours to retain its top ranking amongst ‘best Japanese cities to live in’ through the cooperation with its residents. Centre of these efforts is the financial support of young families as well as an improvement of the municipal schools, as well as the cooperation with citizens concerning city planning issues and the improvement of the city’s functionality. The City of Moriya aims to work hand in hand with its residents in order to provide the best living environment for all of us!
Yours sincerely, |
.
